Privacy policy

Plate is a nutrition tracking app. This policy explains what information the app handles and the choices available to you.

Information you provide

Plate stores information you enter, including account details, age, sex, height, weight, goals, nutrition plan, meal logs, recipes, saved meals, water, activity, and weight history. If you use Plate without registering, Firebase creates an anonymous account so this data can remain private to your app session.

AI meal estimates

When you ask Plate to estimate a meal, the meal description is processed through Google Firebase AI services to produce a draft nutrition estimate. Plate does not save an AI estimate to your diary until you review and confirm it. AI results may be inaccurate and are not medical advice.

How information is used

Information is used to operate the app, calculate and display your plan, keep your confirmed logs available, provide requested AI estimates, secure the service, and diagnose reliability problems. Plate does not sell personal information or use your nutrition history for advertising.

Storage and service providers

Authentication, database storage, app integrity checks, hosting, and AI features are provided through Google Firebase. Data may be processed in locations where Google operates. Access to each user's stored app data is restricted by Firebase Authentication and database security rules.

Your choices

You can export a readable JSON copy from Profile → Export my data. You can permanently delete your account and app data from Profile → Delete account and data. You may also stop using AI meal estimation and continue logging manually.

Retention and deletion

Confirmed app data is retained while your account exists. When in-app account deletion completes, Plate removes the known user collections and the Firebase Authentication account. Some limited security or operational records may be retained by service providers as required for safety, legal compliance, or system integrity.

Children and health information

Plate is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Plate provides general estimates and tracking tools, not diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical advice.
